"I often work with contrasting themes in my artwork. In Horizon Adriatic, I explored the tension between opaque and transparent layers of paint. I emphasized the juxtaposition between a warm gold ground and cool blue overlay shapes. The blue colors play against one another – some are transparent and reveal the gold ground while other hues are opaque and heavily saturated. This study in contrasts has an ambiguous sense of space defined by resonating areas of color that are intended to challenge the mind and eye."
